Trustees’ information and duties

As a charitable company limited by guarantee, Northern Education Trust is governed by a Board of Directors also referred to as Trustees who are responsible for, and oversee the strategic control, management and administration of the Trust and the academies ran by the Trust.

In order to discharge these responsibilities the Trustees appoint people who are more locally based to serve on a board, the Academy Council, which has been established to ensure the good governance of the Academy.

The role of the Academy Council is to:

  • Carry the Trust vision, policies and priorities forward
  • Provide internal assurance
  • To develop the local community and employer links

Members of the Academy Council, called Governors, are expected to question, challenge and support the academy leadership and feel comfortable that they know, and are able to discuss, the performance of the academy.

Governance Information

When Governor vacancies arise parents will be notified through the school newsletters and are encouraged to apply for these positions. A ballot will be held if applications exceed vacancies.

The Governing Body has signed the NGA code of practice for governors which includes the seven principles of Public Office which guide work.

As governors we acknowledge we have responsibility for ensuring that Hilton Primary Academy within Northern Education Trust has an effective and appropriate system of control, financial and otherwise.

Please contact the Academy should you wish to make an appointment to speak with any of the Governing Body members.

Hilton Primary Academy is a member of the Northern Education Trust.
We constantly focus on standards as we understand outcomes are paramount. Our decision making is driven entirely by what is best for children. By doing this we enhance the life chances of the children and young people in our care.
